How the MMU PL Table Looks After double Wins for Commerce fc,MARZ United and MFC in Matchweek 1

The 2024 Maasai mara university League season began on Saturday 27th January, with Commerce FC, the defending champions, starting off against the newly formed side Macmillan FC.
In their first game on Saturday, Commerce FC welcomed Macmillan FC to the league and won convincingly with a score of 8-0. Brayo their Winger scored three goals, Jamal, the striker, got two, and Polycarp,the 19 year old attacking midfielder, scored twice as well. Their debutant, Maina, scored on his debut and assisted twice, earning him the Man of the Match . This victory marked the biggest win in Commerce FC's history.

 

In their second game on Sunday against Panthers FC, Commerce FC continued their winning streak, thrashing them with a convincing 5-0 scoreline. Obote stood out with an impressive hat-trick, while Master and Izoh each contributed with 1 goal. 
Meanwhile, Richmuni side Marz United, had a strong start with two wins over the weekend. They secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Olympics FC and followed it up with a 2-0 win against Al Hilal. Their captain, Vardy, who was the joint top scorer last season, played a pivotal role by scoring in both games.
This weekend also marked a successful start for the newly formed side MFC, as they clinched victories in both of their games. In the first match, they secured a convincing 3-0 win against Al Hilal, with strikers Hakim and Mulinge finding the net. The debut signing, center back Silas, also contributed with a goal.
In their second game against Macmillan, MFC continued their winning streak with a tight 1-0 victory. Captain Brayo Lengi scored a remarkable 36-yard screamer, securing the three points for the team.
In another matchup, Augustine Sampuli's side, Tsunami FC, had a strong start with a 2-0 victory over Panthers FC. Their striker, RORO, played a key role in the win by scoring both goals.


Elsewhere, Boniface Tuchel side, Magic 90, had a solid start with a 1-0 victory over the championship winners, Sharks FC. Jared Mwalimu scored the lone goal of the game. Sharks FC didn't have their captain and goalkeeper, Yankee, who won the Golden Glove last season. Striker Calvin Ouma took on the goalkeeping role and made an impressive six saves.
During the transfer window, Calvo had considered moving to a team with a promising project but ultimately after talks with their team manager Bistra he chose to stay with Sharks FC. The match marked a tough beginning for Sharks FC in the league, and they will look to bounce back in the upcoming fixtures.

Kaya FC, despite losing almost seven players during the transfer window, their began their season on a positive note with a 1-0 victory over the defending champions of the MMUSA Tournament, Medstars FC. The decisive goal was scored by Davis Khamisi.However, they faced a setback during the game as their attacking midfielder, Kency, received a red card hence missing the next one game.


Manager Mike's side, Young Africans, commonly known as Yanga, had a promising start with a 1-0 victory over the four-time champions Assin FC ,who lost their attacking midfielder Saiboku to Tsunami FC during the transfer window, Saiboku had an impressive record of scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists last season. This significant departure poses a challenge for Assins FC as they will navigate the season without Saiboku's valuable contributions to the team 


Manager Leshan's side, Juja FC, had a positive start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Nyakans FC. The decisive goal came from their captain, Caicedo, who converted a penalty in the 23rd minute. Additionally, Juja FC marked the occasion by launching their new jersey with a victory.
MMUSA Tournament defending champions, Medstars, faced a challenging start to the season. They suffered a defeat in their opening game against Kaya FC, where their manager Roy received a red card. However, in their second match, Medstars bounced back with a 1-0 victory against Olympics FC. The crucial goal was scored by their defensive midfielder, Paulo, who was on the verge of joining Sharks during the transfer window.
